Differences in pathology and gene expression associated with neuropsychiatric disorders can be localized to specific layers in the human brain. Scientists from the Lieber Institute for Brain Development sought to define the laminar topography of gene expression in the human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a brain area implicated in a number of neuropsychiatric disorders, using the Visium Spatial Gene Expression Solution from 10x Genomics.

Watch this webinar sponsored by 10x Genomics to learn how

  • Researchers mapped and measured total mRNA within the tissue context
  • Scientists integrated their data with various neuropsychiatric disorder gene sets to demonstrate preferential layer-specific expression of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) risk genes
  • Researchers used the Visium Spatial Gene Expression Solution in human brain tissue for the first time
