Cell-free expression systems for the production of recombinant proteins are game changers compared to traditional cloning methods. The cell-free system workflow removes the molecular cloning, transformation, and in vivo gene expression steps for greater yields of high-fidelity protein products. Using the cell-free approach, researchers can build high-throughput protein expression libraries for cytotoxic proteins that are difficult to synthesize due to their ill effects on cell growth and viability.
