3D cell culture is quickly gaining acceptance in biomedical research as 3D cell culture models are more representative of the structure and function of native tissue compared to conventional cell/tissue culture methods. Yet, many currently available platforms have technical and practical limitations in areas such as speed, reproducibility, ease of handling, and imaging. This limits the use of 3D cell culture in many applications, especially those requiring high throughput. The development of magnetic 3D cell culturing techniques designed to provide a more physiologically relevant cellular environment can potentially improve accuracy in research and drug discovery.
