There are many questions surrounding the quality and reproducibility of qualitative and quantitative western blot data. Together, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and top journals developed recommendations to improve the quality of western blots submitted for publication. Based on these guidelines, researchers can take steps to avoid messy blots, such as verifying primary antibody specificity, improving band resolution and background, and enhancing the detection of low abundance proteins.
Download this application note from Thermo Fisher Scientific to discover tips and tools to improve western blot quality and reproducibility.
