Determining the number of cells that survive a manipulation is an essential step in most drug discovery and toxicology screens. Researchers can use numerous kits to obtain viable cell counts based on fluorescence, absorbance, or luminescence. While this allows scientists to select the viability assay that best fits their research needs, it makes it difficult to directly compare assay performance and sensitivity.
